MDA
Colorless needle crystal, melting point of 72 ~ 74 ℃, containing two water of crystallization, vacuum drying under 60 ℃ can get anhydride, easy deliquescence, pure malondialdehyde in neutral condition is stable, but not stable under acidic conditions. It is produced by condensation of acetaldehyde and ethyl formate under the action of alkali. It can be sublimated and refined under high vacuum. It is not compatible with protein and has potential carcinogenicity.
In vivo, free radicals act on lipid to undergo peroxidation, and the final product of oxidation is malondialdehyde, which will cause cross-linking polymerization of proteins, nucleic acids and other living macromolecules, and has cytotoxicity. MDA is one of the most important products of membrane lipid peroxidation, and its production can also aggravate the damage of the membrane.
